Hi, I’m Gabrielle Likavec—an educator, instructional consultant, and enthusiastic “EduNerd” who’s passionate about helping others discover the joy in teaching and learning. Currently, I serve as a Teaching and Learning Consultant at Central Michigan University, where I collaborate with faculty to enhance instructional practices across all modalities. I love this work because I get to support creative, student-centered teaching that truly makes a difference.

Before my current role, I served as co-coordinator of the Michigan Geographic Alliance, where I led professional development workshops for over 1,000 K–12 teachers and contributed to the revision of Michigan’s social studies standards. This work deepened my commitment to inclusive, inquiry-driven education, which started with my time in the classroom.

Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to lead and contribute to several exciting and meaningful initiatives:

  • AI in Education Program – I helped design and facilitate a multiple-year initiative exploring how generative AI can be ethically and effectively integrated into college classrooms.
  • Open Educational Resources Project – Our team developed over 20 free, high-quality course resources, reducing barriers to learning and increasing student access.
  • One School, One Book – I coordinated a district-wide reading program that placed books in the hands of nearly 1,000 students and fostered a love of literacy in young readers.

When I’m not immersed in curriculum design or workshop facilitation, I’m cheering on my high school senior at football, hockey, or track—or being lovingly herded by my two corgis. Whether supporting faculty or exploring new teaching tools, my work is always grounded in a belief that joyful, mindful, and accessible learning should be at the center of education.
